Stephen Newton is originally from Fish Hoek, Cape Town, and his grandfather, Alexander Moir owned a farm where Cape Point Vineyards is, which he sadly lost in the 1970s.
Stephen left South Africa to work and live in the UK and built up a very sucessful consulting firm called Elixirr, the first company to list on the London Stock Exchange after Covid, now a global brand. Stephen still has a great affinity with South Africa, visiting frequently and vowed to buy back the farm and finally, in 2021, was able to do that.
There has been considerable work done on the farm and the family launched the new luxury guest house and wine brand,The Alexander Vineyards, at a glorious event on the property on Tues 4th Nov, 2025. It clearly is a passion project and his dedicated son James fortunately loves South African and moved here to manage the property.
With the family ties in the UK and Elixirr's extensive reach, I have no doubt the brand will do well.
