Pinotage Association
During this year's Absa Top 10 Pinotage competition, we checked in with two established winemakers who have now ventured to produced their own label of Pinotage. We first visited Francois van Niekerk from Francois van Niekerk Wines in Wellington. He is Cellarmaster at Wellington Wines and created this ode to Pinotage from the grapes of two different vineyards.
"I think it is every winemaker's dream to produce under his own label and I am very privileged to get the chance to produce this wine." - Francois van Niekerk
Next, we headed to Kriekbult in the Stellenbosch region to find out how Abrie Beeslaar from Beeslaar Wines approaches making a Pinotage under his own name.
"As a keen Pinotage person, it was important for me to show the different faces of Pinotage and that's how the Beeslaar label started."
