At a fascinating walk through the vineyard at Groot Constantia - one of the oldest wine farms in Cape Town, South Africa, animated viticulturist Floricius Beukes talked us through the impact of ants on the vines. These were the Muscat de Frontignan vineyards - which are where the iconic Grand Constance wine comes from.
The original Vin de Constance was from Constantia, but now is made at Klein Constantia. At the Strauss Auction held in Sept 2021, a single bottle of the 1981 Vin de Constance was sold for a record-breaking R967 300 !
