Pruning Rijks Bush Vines - by Neville Dorrington

In our winter months, it's all about vineyard cleaning and pruning.

Aims of winter pruning are the following: 1. To establish or maintain a shape of vine which makes all other vineyard operations easier. 2. To set spacing for the next season's growth. 3. To facilitate cultivation, disease control and harvesting, especially when the vines are trained to grow in a particular shape.
