Elunda Basson from Desiderius Pongracz

In addition to this prestigious world-ranking, this graceful Pongrácz flagship was one of just two South African Cap Classiques to be awarded a gold medal in this annual international competition in search of the Best Sparkling Wines in the World, including French Champagne. Now in its 13th year, the competition judged 622 entries from 26 countries. With its elegantly designed fluted bottle, Desiderius 2008 encapsulates grace and exceptional character. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir crafted in the classic French tradition, but proudly on South African soil, this vintage cuvée spent a minimum of 4 years on the lees (spent yeast cells) before the sediment was removed by the time honoured method of “remuage” and “degorgement”. Alluring with a rich complexity, nuances of deciduous fruit, almonds and freshly baked bread, this singularly crafted vintage delight all the senses.
