SA Wine Harvest
Unsung wine workers honoured with prestigious 1659 Award for Visionary Leadership. The unsung contributors to the wine industry were honoured on Thursday evening February 1 at the annual Wine Harvest Commemorative Event at Groot Constantia Estate.
The medal has been awarded to significant role-players in the industry. This year, the Groot Constantia board decided to symbolically honour the voiceless and often faceless wine workers over the centuries by making them the collective recipient of the 1659 medal, as without them the wine industry could never have flourished.
The annual Wine Harvest Commemorative Event is hosted annually at Groot Constantia Wine Estate in Cape Town, during the wine industry’s birthday month. This is when the wine industry officially recognises individuals and organisations for their exceptional contribution to the industry.
During February every year, South Africa celebrate the most significant event on its wine calendar: celebrating the wine industry’s birthday by commemorating the South African grape wine harvest.
