John Seccombe is the owner and winemaker of Thorne & Daughters; a label that is bringing a wonderful aesthetic, not to mention fantastic wines to the SA wine revival.
Unfortunately, however, Thorne seems to have settled in and adopted typical fine wine language. He loves flowery prose, effusive adjectives and glaring tautologies, so we were forced to indulge him with another wine tasting for incurably pretentious people.
Curiously though for someone so concerned with artifice, he also reveals a love of A-ha, Sedgwicks Old Brown and Triple King Steer Burgers from Ceres, proving just what colorful characters populate the South African wine scene.
