KWV Mentors Grenache Blanc 2017 || HanDrinksSolo Wine Club Review

A superbly ripe, rich, layered take on the grape from KWV The Mentors winemaker Izele van Blerk. Nose carries a hint of reductive flint, tinned queen pineapple, peaches, lemon blossom, and chalk dust.

On the palate, pineapple and naartjie fruit abounds. Juicy citrus acidity and sherbet elements offset the sweet tropical fruit.

Fruit is all from the rather warm Wellington and Paarl regions. 90% of the components were barrel-fermented with native yeasts. The wine was left on the lees for 280 days after fermentation. with regular batonage.

HanDrinksSolo is South Africa's most adventurous wine club.
